For security reasons we are asking you to sign your full name and phone number when you start your volunteer work at the central station. This is within the scope of legitimate interest based on Art. 6 Abs. 1 S. 1 lit. F DSGVO.
We are also performing an ID Check. This approach has been checked and approved by security experts. Due to data protection, lists are kept save under lock and key. Furthermore, they are regularly shredded.
❤️ Thanks for your understanding!
Follow-up questions?
Why are you so strict about this?
We repeatedly had problems with people pretending to be volunteers as well as cases of terribly misbehaved volunteers. Therefore we need to know who is volunteering at the station together with us to be able to check contacts when incidents happen.
Why is the registration with the volunteer planner not enough?
- With the volunteer planner, we get a decent overview of the number of volunteers coming to help for a shift. This allows us to advertise for more volunteers when few have registered.
- What the volunteer planner does not do for us, is ask for your verified, full name. On top – sadly – not everyone is using the volunteer planner.
- Also, digital applications are more vulnerable than a paper list only accessible through a single location and frequently being destroyed.
